Roman Reenactment Group – Legio X Gemina (Cohors VIII)
ABOUT LEGION
We are a Roman reenactment group portraying Legio X Gemina, one of the most renowned legions of the Roman Empire. We focus on historical reenactment, Roman military demonstrations, and educational events in Central Europe, mainly in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Through authentic equipment, military training, and historical research, we bring the life of Roman legionaries closer to the public.
At the same time, we are developing the Castellum Felix project — a reconstruction of a Roman marching camp that shows how legionaries built fortifications and lived during military campaigns.
What We Do
Our Roman reenactment group is involved in:

Roman military drills and combat demonstration

Living history presentations of Roman daily life and camp construction

Historical reenactment events across Europe

Educational programs for schools, museums, and festivals
Tenth legion - from conquerors of Gaul to the protectors of the Limes Romanus.

From Caesar's personal guard to the veteran formation of the late Empire, Legio X Gemina Pia Fidelis symbolized adaptability, loyalty, and
military excellence. Its long service on the Pannonian frontier influenced the development of Roman military doctrine across five centuries.

CASTELLVM FELIX
Castellum Felix is our Roman camp reconstruction project, focused on recreating a Roman marching camp based on historical and archaeological evidence.
The fortress is home to the Eighth Cohort of tenth legion, a unit tasked with protecting important trade and supply routes beyond the borders of the Roman Empire. Unit maintains order and security in the region and enables intensive cultural exchange between the Romans and the local tribes. The fortress serves not only as a military outpost, but also as a symbol of the power and Roman civilization.
A unique project to build a fully functional Roman fort near Turnov is currently underway. Here you can find the latest updates on the project:

Our equipment
Over the centuries of its existence, the Roman army used a wide variety of military equipment, including many types of armour and weapons, different shield shapes, and other gear. Our unit is based on evidence from the Roman army during the Principate, at the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. All of our equipment is known from archaeological finds and consists of carefully made replicas. Below, you can see examples of equipment used by different branches of the Roman army.
